Christmas Movies

What would Christmas be without Christmas movies? What’s your favorite? Miracle on 34th? Christmas Vacation? White Christmas? Charlie Brown Christmas? The Polar Express? How The Grinch Stole Christmas? Home Alone? These are all great classics. I love this time of year because it means that I have the chance to sit down and watch these great Christmas holidays. So many great scenes. So many great quotes.

Clark: Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?
Eddie: Naw, I’m doing just fine, Clark.

You’re a monster. Mr Grinch
Your Hearts an empty hole
Your brain is full of spiders
You’ve got garlic in your sole Mr Grinch
I wouldn’t touch you with a
39 and a half foot pole

Think about how the arts have impacted Christmas? We all have our favorite movies and we can’t wait to get our Christmas movies out of the back of the drawer.

So use the arts to communicate the love of God this year. In your church service, use a video clip from a classic film, perform a drama, or do a live nativity. Remember how important drama is in telling the greatest story ever: the love of Jesus.

Jump over to the skitguys.com and grab some scripts. Head over to youtube and find some of your favorite movie clips on-line. Write your own material. (How awesome would it be to have the Christmas Vacation musical at your church this year?)

Be creative as we reflect on Immanuel-God with us.
